A large, pan-India restaurant chain needed a strategic solution that would not only meet their scaling requirements but also foster a culture of loyalty and growth from within.
We partnered with the restaurant chain to design and implement a comprehensive Career Progression Plan. The core objective was to create a clear, visible pathway for every employee, from entry-level staff to senior management, thereby encouraging internal development and promotions.
Our approach was multi-faceted. First, we conducted a thorough needs analysis across all to understand the existing skill gaps and career aspirations of the employees. This involved interviews, surveys, and focus groups. Based on these insights, we developed a detailed Career Ladder outlining the specific skills, competencies, and training required for each role—from Kitchen Assistant to Head Chef, and from Service Staff to Restaurant Manager. Each step on the ladder was clearly defined with measurable benchmarks.
Next, we created a suite of customized L&D programs mapped directly to the career ladder. These programs were delivered through a blended learning approach, combining online modules on topics like food safety and customer service with hands-on, in-restaurant mentorship from senior staff.
To ensure the plan’s long-term success, we established a Performance Management System that linked individual performance to career growth. Quarterly performance reviews now included discussions about career goals and personalized development plans.
